Paver patterns & mixes.
Six layouts from the 2026 Lookbook, with the share of each paver size they take. These are the numbers to order by.
A pattern is really an order sheet. Each one calls for a set mix of paver sizes, given below as the share of the finished surface each size covers — not the share of the piece count, which is what trips most takeoffs up.
Put your square footage in below and each pattern will show the pieces it takes. Your supply yard can price it from there. Sizes vary by colorway, so check the colorway pages before settling on a pattern.
Running Bond 1
Wide courses broken by a narrower one, each row offset by half a paver. The change of course height keeps a long run from reading as a grid.
Running Bond 1 paver mix Size Ratio Share of area You need 24″ × 48″ 1 66.7% — 12″ × 48″ 1 33.3% — 12″ × 48″ is made in Thermal Blue and Natural Variegated only.
Running Bond 2
One size throughout, every course offset by half a paver. The simplest layout to set out and to order, and the one that makes the most of the largest format.
Running Bond 2 paver mix Size Ratio Share of area You need 24″ × 48″ 1 100% — Pattern A
Equal piece counts of three sizes in a shallow band. The lightest of the modular mixes, and the easiest to set out on a narrow terrace or a path.
Pattern A paver mix Size Ratio Share of area You need 24″ × 24″ 1 57.2% — 12″ × 24″ 1 28.5% — 12″ × 12″ 1 14.3% — Pattern B
A square anchor with a pair of planks and a pair of small squares beside it. Even weighting between the large and medium sizes keeps the surface busy without looking random.
Pattern B paver mix Size Ratio Share of area You need 24″ × 24″ 1 40% — 12″ × 24″ 2 40% — 12″ × 12″ 2 20% — Pattern C
The largest module of the three-size mixes, with a course of smaller pieces running under the squares. It takes a bigger area to read properly, so it suits an open terrace.
Pattern C paver mix Size Ratio Share of area You need 24″ × 24″ 2 44.5% — 12″ × 24″ 3 33.3% — 12″ × 12″ 4 22.2% — Pattern D
Built around the largest format, with squares and planks stacked beside it. The strongest of the mixes, and the one that reads most clearly from the house.
Pattern D paver mix Size Ratio Share of area You need 24″ × 48″ 1 40% — 24″ × 24″ 2 40% — 12″ × 24″ 2 20% —
Herringbone.
Not a mix but a single size — usually 12″ × 24″ — set at 45° or 90°. It takes more cuts at the edges and more labour than a modular mix, so budget for both, but it does something no stacked layout can: it gives a flat surface direction, and it hides small variations in setting out.
The walkway at the top of this page is herringbone. Talk it through with your installer before you order, because the waste allowance is higher.
